This collection of overlays are upcycled from pre-consumer textile waste like off-cuts, defective fabric rolls, sample swatches, or materials that were produced during the manufacturing process, testing materials that never made it to retail. Upcycling is repurposing and transforming the textile scraps to give them new life, turning what would have been waste into something of higher value and function. The process involves stitching smaller swatches of fabric together, patchworking, and creating entirely new designs from leftover materials, thus reducing the amount of textile waste that ends up in landfills. This sustainable and circular approach minimizes the need for new raw materials and reduces textile waste, which is a significant contributor to pollution. It contributes to the circular economy, where materials are kept in use longer and also reduces the carbon footprint of textile production, as the energy and resources required to process new fabrics are avoided. The result is one-of-a-kind pieces with a story behind them with unique textures, color combinations, and styles that cannot be replicated.
